Flash Video Comes to the iPhone and iPod Touch
Skyfire is the first web browser app available on the App Store to let you watch flash videos on your iPhone or iPod Touch. It was approved by Apple in the last 24 hours, and is going to be made available in a couple days. You can read more about it here.

This of course seems to contradict Apple’s policies in the past, but I don’t think that Apple is being hypocritical in this move. It just so happens Skyfire has found a way to make flash video work reliably on the mobile devices that other developers hadn’t—even Apple Safari doesn’t play flash video, so it must be somewhat humbling to release skyfire.

With this release, Apple is acknowledging, yet again, that if app performance catches up with realistic user expectations they will make advances they previously persistently avoided. The Adobe Flash versus Apple debates and arguments have finally been silenced.
